What ISP proxies are
ISP proxies, also called static residential proxies, are IP addresses registered to internet service providers but hosted on servers in data centres. To websites they look like residential or business connections, because the IP's registration says so. To you, they behave like datacenter proxies: fast, stable and always online, with the same IP for as long as you rent it.
Geonode sells ISP proxies in shared and dedicated versions, with unmetered bandwidth, billed per IP per month, with a small minimum order at the time of writing. This guide explains when to choose them and how to use them well. For the general concept, see ISP proxies.
Shared vs dedicated
| Shared ISP | Dedicated ISP | |
|---|---|---|
| Who uses the IP | You and other customers | Only you |
| Price | Lower | Higher |
| Reputation | Affected by others' behaviour | Yours alone |
| Best for | Light, low-risk tasks; testing | Accounts, checkouts, anything reputation-sensitive |
For account management and sneaker checkouts, dedicated IPs are worth the extra cost. For tasks like light monitoring or occasional browsing from a stable location, shared IPs can be good value.
What Geonode ISP proxies are good for
- Account management. A permanent IP per social, marketplace or seller account keeps location history consistent. See Geonode for social media management.
- Sneaker checkouts. Fast, stable IPs that don't drop mid-checkout. See Geonode for sneaker bots.
- IP whitelisting. Partners, APIs and admin panels that only accept traffic from known IPs. A static ISP proxy gives you a fixed IP to whitelist.
- Long-running sessions. Browser automation or monitoring that holds a session for hours or days.
- Heavy traffic through a few IPs. Unmetered bandwidth makes ISP proxies cheaper than per-GB residential for high-volume work on a small number of identities.
- Antidetect browser profiles that represent lasting identities. See Geonode with antidetect browsers.
When rotating residential is better
- You need thousands of different IPs.
- You need city-level variety for research.
- Each identity is short-lived (a raffle entry, a single search).
- Your target blocks the specific ISP ranges available as ISP proxies.
See ISP vs residential proxies.
Proxy tip: Before scaling, run a short pilot on your real targets with Geonode and record success rate, latency and GB per result. Our our complete Geonode guide explains which Geonode product to start with.
Setting up
- Buy the number of ISP proxies you need in the locations available.
- Copy each proxy's IP, port, username and password from the dashboard (or whitelist your server IP).
- Assign one proxy per identity: one account, one browser profile, one checkout task group.
- Record the mapping between identities and IPs, and don't change it without reason.
- Test each proxy on an IP check page and on your real target.
Testing ISP proxies
- Check the IP's registration with an IP lookup: it should show an ISP, not a hosting company.
- Check location matches what you bought.
- Test on your target once before relying on it. If an IP arrives already flagged on a target, ask about replacement.
- Measure speed from your server.
Buying tips
- Spread across subnets where possible, so one flagged range doesn't affect everything.
- Buy for real identities, not "just in case".
- Prefer dedicated for anything account-related.
- Match locations to where each identity should appear.
Example ISP proxy plans
| Team | Need | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Agency with 12 client social accounts | One stable identity per account | 12 dedicated ISP proxies in clients' regions |
| Sneaker cook running weekly drops | Fast, stable checkout IPs | 25 dedicated ISP proxies across several subnets, plus specialist dailies for hyped releases |
| SaaS company integrating with a partner API | A fixed IP for the partner's allowlist | 2 dedicated ISP proxies (primary and backup) |
| E-commerce seller with three marketplace accounts | Consistent account access | 3 dedicated ISP proxies in the seller's country |
| QA team testing from a stable location | A predictable test identity | A few shared ISP proxies |
Notice that the number of proxies always follows the number of identities, not the amount of traffic. Unmetered bandwidth means traffic rarely changes the cost.
Looking after ISP proxies
- Monitor each IP: a simple daily check against an IP echo page and your most important target catches problems early.
- Keep a replacement process: if an IP becomes flagged on a target, request a replacement and update the identity mapping carefully (accounts may need a verification after the change).
- Retire IPs you no longer need at renewal time.
- Document ownership: which IP belongs to which account, client or system.
These habits keep a small ISP proxy fleet reliable for years. For comparison with rotating products, see Geonode for web scraping and residential proxies.
FAQ
Do Geonode ISP proxies rotate?
No. They're static: the IP stays the same for as long as you rent it.
Is bandwidth limited on Geonode ISP proxies?
Geonode lists ISP proxies with unmetered bandwidth. Check current fair-use terms.
Are ISP proxies residential?
They're registered to ISPs, so websites usually classify them as residential or business connections, but they're hosted on servers rather than in homes.
How many ISP proxies do I need?
One per lasting identity: an account, a profile or a checkout task group.
Editorial note: Proxy providers change their pools, features and prices often, so treat any figures here as typical ranges at the time of writing and confirm current terms with the provider before you buy.
