What gaming needs
Games care about latency, stability and, often, UDP. Rotating residential IPs are a poor fit: they're slower and change. Static ISP IPs near the game's servers are the usual choice. See best proxies for gaming.

UDP matters
Many games send real-time traffic over UDP. Standard SOCKS5 proxies carry only TCP in practice, so game traffic may bypass them or fail. Rayobyte's residential network supports SOCKS5 UDP, though residential latency is higher than server-hosted IPs. Check whether your game and client support SOCKS5 UDP before relying on it. See Rayobyte SOCKS5, UDP and protocol support.
Choosing
- Cheap stable IPs for launchers, stores and web traffic: Webshare static residential. See Webshare for gaming.
- UDP game traffic: Rayobyte, if your client supports SOCKS5 UDP.
- Low-latency fixed IPs in specific regions: compare static ISP from all three, including Geonode.
Residential tip: You can test all three for little or nothing: Rayobyte has a no-card free trial, Webshare a free plan and Geonode a low-cost residential trial. Run the same script through each. See Rayobyte static ISP proxies.
What proxies can't fix
A proxy adds a hop; it rarely lowers ping unless your normal route is poor. Follow each game's terms; many forbid region or account workarounds.
Picking a gaming proxy setup
- Launchers, stores and web traffic: a static ISP or static residential IP near you, from Webshare for cost.
- Game traffic over UDP: Rayobyte's residential SOCKS5 UDP, if your client supports SOCKS5 UDP; expect higher latency than a server-hosted IP.
- A stable regional IP for a long session: static ISP from any of the three, including Geonode.
Testing latency properly
Measure round-trip time to the game's servers with and without the proxy, at the hours you play. A proxy close to the game server can sometimes improve a poor route, but more often it adds a few milliseconds. If ping matters most, a good direct connection usually beats any proxy.

Strengths and watch-outs
| Provider | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Rayobyte | SOCKS5 UDP for game traffic | Residential latency |
| Geonode | Static ISP IPs | No UDP listed |
| Webshare | Cheapest static IPs | No UDP listed |
Proxy tip: If your residential usage comes in bursts, Geonode is worth a look: purchased GB doesn't expire and sticky sessions can last up to 24 hours. More in Geonode ISP proxies.
Bottom line
Static IPs near the game server for stability; Rayobyte only when UDP support is essential.

Budget tip: For jobs where a fixed IP list is enough, Webshare is one of the cheapest options: shared datacenter proxies are sold by the IP, and static residential (ISP) proxies cost well under a dollar per IP per month at the time of writing. More in Webshare for gaming.
Key takeaways
- Use static ISP IPs near game servers for stability.
- Rayobyte is the only one of the three listing SOCKS5 UDP.
- Webshare offers the cheapest static IPs.
- Proxies rarely reduce latency and must respect game terms.
FAQ
Do proxies reduce ping?
Rarely; they add a hop.
Which supports UDP for games?
Rayobyte, via SOCKS5 UDP on residential.
Are gaming proxies allowed?
Check each game's terms.
Do gaming proxies help with DDoS protection?
They can hide your home IP from other players, but game terms and platform policies still apply.
Can I use rotating proxies for games?
No; games need a stable connection, so use static IPs.
Which is cheapest for gaming IPs?
Webshare's static residential IPs.
Editorial note: Proxy providers change their pools, features and prices often, so treat any figures here as typical ranges at the time of writing and confirm current terms with the provider before you buy.
