Gateway rotation on both
Both providers rotate residential IPs at a gateway: connect to one host, and the provider chooses the exit IP per request or per session. You don't manage lists. This is the simplest way to spread requests across many IPs.
Rayobyte's extra rotation products
Rayobyte adds two products Geonode doesn't sell:
- Rotating ISP: ISP-registered IPs rotated at a gateway, faster than residential and more trusted than datacenter. See Rayobyte rotating ISP proxies.
- Static datacenter lists you rotate yourself, with unmetered bandwidth. See Rayobyte static datacenter proxies.
Residential tip: Many teams end up using more than one provider: Rayobyte for ZIP and ASN targeted residential traffic or its Scraping API, Geonode for non-expiring per-GB bandwidth and long sticky sessions. Start with Rayobyte Premium Residential proxies.
Rotation strategies
- Rotate per request for independent pages: product details, single searches.
- Rotate per task with a sticky session for flows: pagination, carts, forms.
- Rotate per account never: keep one static IP per account.
- Rotate on failure: when a block appears, switch IP and slow down.
- Tier rotation: start domains on rotating datacenter, move up only when blocked.
See proxy rotation strategies.
Which to choose
| Need | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Simple residential rotation | Either |
| Long residential sessions | Geonode |
| Rotating ISP-grade IPs | Rayobyte |
| Cheapest rotating datacenter | Rayobyte |
| Static lists you rotate yourself | Rayobyte (datacenter), either (ISP) |
For sessions specifically, see sticky sessions compared. To include Webshare, see rotation across all three.
A real-world example
A sports data company scrapes odds from 30 bookmaker sites every minute. Lenient sites go through Rayobyte's rotating datacenter pool. Sites that block datacenter ranges but need fast responses go through Rayobyte's rotating ISP pool. Three heavily protected sites use Geonode residential with per-request rotation. The company never rotates on logged-in pages; those don't exist in this workload.
Proxy tip: To test the Geonode side of this comparison, a small residential balance from Geonode is enough, and it doesn't expire if you pause. See our complete Geonode guide for its full product range.

Rayobyte, Geonode and Webshare are three options among many. Our best proxies in 2026 guide explains how to match a proxy type to each task, and cheap proxies that work shows where budget providers fit. To understand the IP type behind this, read our residential proxies guide.
Budget tip: If you want a cheap proxy to try this with, Webshare has a free plan with 10 datacenter proxies and 1 GB of bandwidth a month, no card required. Paid lists let you pick proxy count, bandwidth and location. See Webshare rotating residential proxies.
Key takeaways
- Both rotate residential IPs per request or per session at a gateway.
- Rayobyte adds a rotating ISP pool and static datacenter lists.
- Geonode's residential sessions can be held longer.
- Rotate per request, per task or on failure, never per account.
