What Scale Residential is
Scale Residential is Rayobyte's answer to a specific problem: some teams need enormous amounts of residential traffic, but don't care where the IPs are. Think of broad crawls for search indexes, AI training corpora or catalog-wide e-commerce snapshots. For that kind of work, paying $1 to $3 per GB for targetable residential traffic is wasteful.
Scale Residential removes geo-targeting and sells the same kind of residential exit IPs in bulk at a tiny fraction of the price. It draws on Rayobyte's network of more than 50 million opted-in devices a month across 190+ countries, and it supports sticky sessions.
The plans
| Monthly plan | Included traffic | Price per GB |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | 6,600 GB | $0.0150 |
| $500 | 40,000 GB | $0.0125 |
| $1,500 | 136,000 GB | $0.0110 |
| $5,000 | 526,000 GB | $0.0095 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
Those are list prices at the time of writing. Even the smallest plan works out at about 1.5 cents per GB, compared with $0.70 per GB for Premium Residential at 1 TB.
The catch: concurrency
Scale Residential limits concurrency to one concurrent request per dollar of plan. A $100 plan lets you run 100 requests at once, and a $1,500 plan 1,500. In practice this is the limit you'll hit first, long before you use 6,600 GB, so plan capacity around threads rather than bandwidth. Our guide to Rayobyte concurrency and threads shows how to estimate it.
A rough rule: if each request takes two seconds and returns 200 KB, 100 concurrent requests move about 50 requests per second, or around 4.3 million pages and roughly 860 GB a day. Few jobs get near the bandwidth cap before the concurrency cap.
The compliance review
Scale Residential is sold to verified businesses after a compliance review. Expect to explain who you are, what you collect and why. Rayobyte uses this to keep high-volume residential traffic away from abusive uses, which also helps keep the pool clean for everyone. While the review is pending, you can test with the Premium Residential free trial. See compliance review and restricted sites.
Residential tip: Before scaling, run a short pilot with Rayobyte on your real targets and record success rate, latency and GB per result. Our Rayobyte Premium Residential proxies explains which Rayobyte product fits which job.
When Scale Residential is the right choice
- Broad, untargeted crawling where the site cares that you're residential but not where you are.
- AI and research datasets pulled from many public sources. See Rayobyte for AI training data.
- Large catalog snapshots across marketplaces with global content.
- Teams that already know their volumes and can commit to a monthly plan.
When it isn't
- Anything local. Without country or city targeting, SERP checks, ad verification and local pricing are out. Use Premium Residential.
- Small or irregular jobs. A monthly plan only pays off if you use it.
- Sites that block residential IPs anyway. Some targets need the Web Unblocker or the Scraping API regardless of the proxy.
How it compares with unlimited plans
Geonode sells unlimited residential plans priced by port speed, from about $1,800 a month at 200 Mbps. Scale Residential's $1,500 plan includes 136,000 GB and 1,500 concurrent requests, which is a lot of traffic for the money, but Geonode's unlimited plans include targeting. The right choice depends on whether you need locations. See Rayobyte vs Geonode unlimited residential and our general guide to unlimited bandwidth proxies.
Proxy tip: If your residential usage goes up and down, compare Geonode: its per-GB residential bandwidth doesn't expire, so you only pay for what you use. See Rayobyte vs Geonode.
Setting it up
- Apply for Scale Residential in the dashboard and complete the review.
- Meanwhile, build and test your scraper on the Premium Residential trial.
- Once approved, swap the gateway credentials and set your worker pool size to your plan's concurrency.
- Monitor success rate and response time; if you hit the concurrency limit constantly, the next plan up is usually cheaper than queuing work.
Rayobyte, Geonode and Webshare are three options among many. Our best proxies in 2026 guide explains how to match a proxy type to each task, and cheap proxies that work shows where budget providers fit. To understand the IP type behind this, read our residential proxies guide.
Budget tip: If you want a cheap proxy to try this with, Webshare has a free plan with 10 datacenter proxies and 1 GB of bandwidth a month, no card required. Paid lists let you pick proxy count, bandwidth and location. See Webshare rotating residential proxies.
Key takeaways
- Scale Residential trades targeting for price: about 1 to 1.5 cents per GB on monthly plans.
- Concurrency (one request per dollar of plan) is the real limit, not bandwidth.
- It's for verified businesses after a compliance review.
- Use Premium Residential for anything that depends on location.
